A while ago a long time fan of Fast Boy Cycles (we'll call him CR, since those ARE his initials) got in touch and asked if there was ANYTHING left in the stable that he could buy.
At this point, the only personal bike I have left is my nose bike.. and in truth, it's really sort of a household bike as much as it's my own. Everything else is gone. Sold. The UTA is still here, hanging in the bike room, but I am unable to ride it now, and the auction winner will be flying over from Dublin (NOT Glen) to pick it up sometime after the holidays.
I told CR that I really had nothing left but the nose bike, and that I thought I'd probably hang on to that.. ultimately leave it with the house to be a grocery getter, and guest bike.
But then I remembered that the first frame I ever built was in the basement doing no one any good. I offered to clean it up and throw a very nice build on it, and CR said YES without hesitation.
I didn't take it up to Grant's Tomb (obviously), but I DID think I should get a few shots of the thing. It is gone now. I believe that CR will get it tomorrow. Sort of a strange feeling!
I was awfully surprised as I cleaned it up and added a few braze ons and re-patina-ed it, just how nice a bike it was! (If I do say so..)
The build is pretty beautiful. Very glad that it's going to a good home.
CR!! take good care of that thing. VERY first bike I ever built.
